Can’t make it to your annual vacation? Fear not! Grab your popcorn and tune into these epic TV shows for the wanderlust in you!

It’s been a long time since I blogged anything! I must have broken several records of my own in this process. Thanks to pure laziness and some personal stuff that makes you wanna zone out from everyone and everything. There are days when you just cannot access the creativity within you and it’s best to take a break till it all comes back to you.

And it did come back to me. Eventually. Thanks to the epic trip I took to Muzaffarabad, Azad Kashmir! But more on that later.

While my trip photos and videos are being copied to my laptop, I thought to share with you guys some of the most epic TV shows that I watched/am watching while I zone out in front of the TV. Read on!

1) The Luxury Travel Show

No matter how ghareeb (poor) we are, there’s always a hope to go on a luxury loaded vacation at one point in our life. Just out of plain curiosity about how do rich people travel and where they stay, I started watching this one and I was stunned by what the human race has accomplished when it comes down to the luxury travel industry. This show gives you a tour of all the awesome luxury hotels and resorts around the world, and as the show title clearly suggests, it lets you “experience the VIP treatment at some of the world’s grandest and most lavish travel destinations, from Barbados to Barcelona!” Haye. Haye haye.

2) An Idiot Abroad

Ever travelled to a place and thought to yourself that how overrated it is all over the internet? Well, this idiot called Karl Pilkington is forced to travel to the seven wonders of the world and has the worst time of his life exploring the places as the locals do. His sarcastic commentary turns, what was supposed to be a dream journey, into a nightmare. After two episodes, even I was questioning myself if the Taj Mahal would be worth visiting. LOL. Must watch for the kicks of laughter!

3) What’s for Sale? With a View

Is this a travel show? I am not sure. But I love cute houses and I am total sucker for gorgeous views, so this show and I were a match made in heaven. The show starts off with a family looking for a property with specific (somewhat crazy in the real world) needs, for example, a house with the view of a light-house. I mean, who cares?! But apparently some people do. So a realtor goes about town showing the family a couple of homes before they choose their favourite one. It’s actually quite fun to watch the people go aww and gaww over the houses as they visit. It almost makes me realize how people in the first world can actually afford to consider houses that come with a view whereas us poor people in the third world only look for the number of rooms so that we can accommodate our khala, phupi, chaachi and their 12 children living with us in the house (hello joint families).

4) National Ka Pakistan

I am a food fanatic and I LOVE this show! They just came out with their 5th season and it’s even better than before! Chef Saadat takes you around the various cities of Pakistan and explores local cuisine, and then finally cooks up a storm somewhere in an outdoor setting! It’s a treat to watch him cook in his funny and rough tough way, almost feels like we are out on a picnic with him 😀 In one part of the show, Shuja Haider (the Coke Studio guy) explores local music of the region and comes up with the most melodious songs ever. This show is a beautiful combination of travel with food and music ❤

5) Raja, Rasoi aur Anya Kahaniyan

Because I am a big time foodie, this show has been on my favourites list since forever. Indian food rocks. I think because so much of our Pakistani history is tied to India, therefore our food is also similar, but different in a very unique way that I cannot explain. In each episode, we are introduced to a region of India, the food belonging to that area, and the folk or royal stories tied to that food. Hence the name “Raja, Rasoi aur Anya Kahaniyan”. But I must warn you: Never watch this show on an empty stomach. You will end up looking for this sort of food and you will never find it in Pakistan 😦

6) Moving Art

I watch this show whenever I want to relax. This show is simply out of heaven. In season 1, Louie Schwartzberg highlights the beauty that lurks in oceans, forests, deserts and flowers. It’s themed like a slo-mo/time-lapse sort of thing which relaxing music, it really seeps deep into your mind and you feel freshened up after every episode. In season 2, we explore exotic locations like Koh Samui, Iceland, Africa etc. with a cinematic touch. I love such films and one day I want to make such films!
