Wanderlust Mondays: Greece

This post is part of a series I do every Monday on the blog. Featuring the destinations that I’m diggin’ these days and so should you! Read all my Wanderlust Mondays posts here and kick the ugly Monday blues away!

This Monday I’m exploring Greece from the comfort of my bed 😀 It seems to be a very beautiful country filled with archaeological sites and deep blue beaches. Here are some top places to explore in Greece that I’d one day like to see in real!

Greece

Visit Meteora – The ‘Suspended in the Air’ Monasteries

It is believed that these monasteries, set on top of huge rock formations, were accessible only by frayed ropes or a large net that would haul up the monks. Access was kept deliberately difficult as orthodox monks used to seek refuge in such a remote location.

Stroll Through Petaloudes – Valley of the Butterflies

Towards the end of May, as the dry season arrives, butterflies and other flying insects approach this valley to mate. They creep on to almost everything and I’m sure it must be a sight to see!

See the Volcanic Rocks of Lemnos

These rocks have been formed by volcanic eruptions in the past and locals call them as ‘fragokefala’. How peculiar!

Watch the Sunset in Oia, Santorini

See the Iconic Windmills (Kato Milli) of Mykonos

Visit the Acropolis of Athens
